Regional PEL 5-day “Leadership Skills” Course

The Pacific Region has scheduled a 5-day Leadership Skills course from February 5 to February 10, 2017. Please note the dates advertised by the CLC in the CLC Pacific Region Winter School brochure are incorrect.

This CUPW course will be held as part of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Winter School at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa, 100 Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs, BC.

The Leadership Skills course is about communications—both on the shop floor and in the community—but it doesn’t stop there. The wide range of topics covered include: history, media literacy, quality of work life (QWL) programs, shop floor tactics, campaign building, dealing with conflict, and problem-solving.

This 5-day course gives shop stewards and other union leaders an opportunity to improve their communication and shop floor organizing skills. Participants will increase their confidence to represent members and to communicate union policies and programs. This course is recommended for Local officers and shop floor leaders who have some experience already and want to develop stronger communication and advocacy skills. Participants who complete this course are expected to work with Local and Regional leadership to implement union endorsed campaigns and other initiatives.

Please note that course registration will be done through CUPW. Applications will be available from your Local Union Office. Only applications submitted to the Local office will be considered. All applications must be signed and submitted by your Local President or their designate.

Please mail completed applications to the attention of:
